Craig McCaw has assembled a world-class, multi-national team, amongst them Laurie Davidson, designer of the last two America's Cup winners, and match racing champion Australian Peter Gilmour. He and James Spithill have been very successful this year on the match racing circuit. Sailing for the Seattle Yacht Club, OneWorld features Northwest sailors Charlie and Jonathan McKee, Mark Newbrook and Brian Ledbetter. OneWorld should be able to overcome a one point (one win) penalty in the first 16 races to move into the quarterfinals. visit website

A few words with Peter Gilmour
As you can imagine, time is tight for Peter Gilmour as race day draws near, but he took some time to answer a few questions from 48° North.
OneWorld has had more training and testing time in New Zealand than any other team. What has that done for you?
"The testing program has gone extremely well. We have made big gains since our launch of the two boats. We continue to see gains and speed improvement. We are definitely ready. The team has an extremely strong pedigree and they have come together extremely well. We are looking forward to putting their design and sailing skills to work."
Have you selected your first team for racing?
"We do have the starting team, but the crew will rotate everyday. We have a great deal of depth which will come in very handy during the long campaign for the Cup."
There has been considerable warm-up racing between teams. Who, besides yourself do you see on top?
We have sailed against Alinghi, Prada, LeDefi Areva, and Sweden. They are all strong competitors, it reinforces our belief that this is going to be one of the greatest ACs ever. It is impossible to call who will be on top, but look to be surprised, it will not be who you expect to do well.
