Phone: (604) 926-5744 Website: www.hollyburnsailingclub.ca
The Hollyburn Sailing Club was founded in 1963 with the express purpose of providing sailing instruction to children and teenagers. Since those days the training program has grown steadily to include adults. Training is based on standards established by the Canadian Yachting Association for its "Learn to Sail" program, which combines theory instruction in the classroom with a maximum possible amount of time spent on the water. It provides a progression through various levels of proficiency from the beginner to the advanced racing sailor, successful completion on each level is marked by White, Bronze, Silver and Gold Sail awards. While adult courses are naturally less structured than those for juniors, an effort is made to provide instruction at a level appropriate to the experience of the class and, where demand is sufficient, an intermediate adult course is offered.
